Exceptionally fine 8 day striking library clock. The 8 day movement striking the hours and half hours, numbered 150852. Contained in a very unusual ormolu cast case, with a leaf finial, flanked by Garland swag decoration, over a cast key moulded frieze, the dial with Arabic and Roman numerals, inscribed JOH. HARTMANN, 48/49 UNTER DEN LINDEN, who would have been one of the finest retailers in pre war Berlin. The base with further leaf and key moulding, on classic inspired scroll supports. Ht 36, W 16.5, D 12 cms.
