Library Globe by J & B Cary, circa 1818

£2,750.00

Terrestrial globe by J & B Cary, circa 1818.

A beautiful and original Globe, suspended on an indicated brass Meriden circle, which can be adjusted to show the southern hemisphere. The interesting makers label refers to the different tracks of Captain Cook and the new discoveries made by him and other circumnavigators.

The globe is in exceptional original condition, except for a few small abrasions due to use, as can be seen in the illustrations. These can easily be relieved, but I always prefer to offer things for sale in original condition. This fantastic conversation piece is almost like a geography lesson and would add interest to a variety of rooms and would be totally suited to the finest of homes. Ht 47.5, diameter 45.5 cms.
