French mantle clock, circa 1875

£850.00

A very decorative gilt and porcelain eight day mantle clock in the manner of Louis XVI. The movement is made by the acknowledged maker Japy Freres and bears his medal of honour stamp. The movement is of 8-day duration and strikes the full hours and half hours on a bell, giving a very pleasant mellow chime. This clock has spent most of the last 150 years under a glass dome and is in totally original condition with no losses additions cracks or chips. The enamel decoration on the porcelain panels is beautifully preserved with no signs of abrasions due to over cleaning.
