Auguste Moreau bronze figure of SELENE, circa 1890-1910

A good and large bronze figure of SELENE goddess of the Moon,

Standing 90 cm high this beautifully sculpted figure of the Goddess holding a new moon standing on a star studied globe representing the Earth at night floating on billowing clouds

The globe contains a Clock of eight day duration striking the hours and a half hours on a cast bell giving a beautiful mellow chime.

As can be seen in the illustration the back of the Clock is signed Auguste Moreau an acclaimed Art Nouveau sculpture

Although the bronze is extremely heavy, Moreau has created an image that seems to be floating on a cloud

The  movement is inscribed H Luppens Paris, a renowned Clock maker. The dial bears his name and Brussels where the Clock would have been retailed.

This is a stunning statement sculpture suitable for a variety of locations in a fine Home.
